“Open” sessions are organised during the week, intended to be suitable for anyone to join – and perhaps giving an opportunity for people to play a second instrument. Open sessions for 2017 will include:
- Choir with Thomas Leech
- String Orchestra with Steve Bingham, which in 2017 featured “The Gypsy’s Violin” by Jeff Moore.
- Light Orchestra with John White, which in the 2017 summer school included works by Lerner & Loewe, Leroy Anderson, Eric Coates, Anthony Collins and John Barry.
- Wind Band with John Jones
- Vocal Ensembles with Thomas Leech, which will feature a very wide range of repertoire for all!
On the first evening of the course everyone will be welcome to join in and sing or play in a general session, conducted by Tom Leech. In 2017 this session was on Constant Lambert;’s “The Rio Grande”.
These sessions will be in addition to the normal brass, string, and wind ensemble sessions, and scheduled orchestral and choral rehearsals.
