MEMBERS’ CHAMBER GROUPS
The week provides many opportunities for members to get together in ad hoc chamber groups, for example during the afternoons. Please bring music with you to play!
The Members’ Concert provides an opportunity to perform a short work of your own choice and is typically one of the highlights of the week. Ensembles are preferred to solo items, but some of the latter may be included, at the Director’s discretion. Accompanists may be found from within the summer school membership. An application form and further details will be provided in your registration pack.
Orchestral and vocal scores for most of the listed repertoire will be available on loan.
Members can request for newspapers to be bought on their behalf; these are available at breakfast, and paid for during the week. Newspaper orders are recorded on the application form.
These may be booked with individual tutors at a rate fixed by them. Your conductor or the Director will be pleased to advise you. Ensure that you have booked a suitable rehearsal room for your private session.
It is possible for members to use the school’s swimming pool for an hour each morning, at a modest extra charge. The indoor heated pool offers: four 25m lanes; graduated depth from 1m to 1.85m; starting blocks, turning pads and deck-level edging; and UVA and chlorine water purification. There are changing, shower and toilet facilities, including provision for disabled people.
The school has provided members with Wi-Fi access in recent years, and we anticipate that this facility will be available in 2017. Note that Wi-Fi coverage is limited to only some parts of the site.
