Symphony Orchestra
Principal Conductor:  Peter Selwyn

This course is intended for instrumentalists of a standard equivalent to Grade 8 or higher but applications are considered from string players of a slightly lower standard who have good orchestral experience.

Places for wind and brass are strictly limited and early application is recommended.

2012 repertoire will include:

  • Parry: Symphonic Variations
  • Sibelius: Symphony No. 5 in E flat
  • Vaughan Williams: In the Fen Country – A Symphonic Impression
  • Wagner: Prelude and Good Friday Music from Parsifal

The string ensemble will be conducted by Philip Meaden. Appropriate works will be chosen from the rich repertoire for string orchestra and will include William Alwyn’s Concerto Grosso No. 2
