MEMBERS’ CHAMBER GROUPS
The week provides many opportunities for members to get together in ad hoc chamber groups, for example during the afternoons. Please bring music with you to play!
The Members’ Concert provides an opportunity to perform a short work of your own choice and is typically one of the highlights of the week. Ensembles are preferred to solo items, but some of the latter may be included, at the Director’s discretion. Accompanists may be found from within the summer school membership. An application form can be obtained from the Course Office during the week.
Members can request for newspapers to be bought on their behalf; these are available at breakfast, and paid for during the week. Newspaper orders are recorded on the application form.
These may be booked with individual tutors at a rate fixed by them. Your conductor or the Director will be pleased to advise you. Ensure that you have booked a suitable rehearsal room for your private session.
It is possible for members to use the school’s swimming pool for an hour at varying times each day (more detils available prior to the course), at a modest extra charge. The indoor heated pool offers four 25m lanes, graduated depth from 1m to 2m and deck-level edging. There are changing, shower and toilet facilities.
In addition to the pool and the school’s large and beautiful grounds, we will be able to use squash courts, tennis courts and (for controlled use only) a very well-equipped sports hall.
We anticipate that this facility will be available in our new venue for 2019.
